I am reposting this video here because it is so fascinating AND because there are BIG RED NUMBERS on this beautiful unit.
This one is good for all you photography buffs out there. If you know Photoshop or the freely available GIMP, know what layers are and are familiar with stacking - this one is for you. Thanks Leo! Hope I didn't steal your thunder... |

I love the photo work, I remember the days working in the dark room to achieve special photos, etc. I only worked with black and white. I now love the use of photo enhancement programs like Adobe Photoshop, etc. to adjust and improve photographs into a work of art such as the one shown. I love a digital camera instead of the film cameras, don't have to carry rolls of film, just a card or cards, computer, etc. to keep photos on. thanks Tim for putting this on the site.

I am a big fan of digital as well but I have also processed film in my bathroom.
My camera is a hacked canon Powershot S5 IS. I say Hacked because I have software installed on the SD card that boots when the camera is turned on that greatly expands the capabilities of the camera way beyond the stock capabilities of the installed software. For example I can shoot from 7 minutes ti 1/100000 with up to f/16 - so i can and have taken a picture of the sun and have it barely come out. I use a program called AutoPano Pro to blend and stitch panographs and HDR images. |

Man two exclusives in a month and they both get shattered in mere hours! Damn... You could have given me a week or two bud! We get mileage out of exclusives you know! We work hard at that stuff... The least you could do is complete that 'connection' request bud... |

Well, besides all that - I am wondering who this trailer belongs to. The exterior skin looks to be in great shape!

Greetings Tim - I was wondering if the program that you are using in your camera is specific to your camera and/or is it available to others? and if so what is the program? thanks - Lee

The software is specific to a range of Canon cameras. From their website:
# CHDK is free software – CHDK released under the GPL, allowing you to use it for free, and also create your own modifications. # CHDK is a firmware ADDON – CHDK does not replace the original firmware, and does not make any permanent changes to the camera. Instead, it is loaded from the SD card, either at startup or using the built in menu. # CHDK – stands for Canon Hack Development Kit; I have been a canon user and the reason that this hack works is that the processor is a specific type that will run commands outside the cameras controls. I have to confess that I did buy my S5 just because this hack existed and I could run some of these commands. If you are at all comfortable with editing code, you can even write your own scripts and edit the code that runs the camera. I did that as well to tune a lightning script for the camera to run faster. What that script does is snap the shutter when it sees a flash of lightning and it is quick enough that it will actually capture the flash. What camera do you have?? |

Thanks for the information, I will pass it on to a friend that uses Canon cameras. I don't know if it will be applicable with his camera, but at least he can explore the possibility.
I use an Olympus Camedia 3.2 Megapixel. Very simple but it does what I need. I don't need the clarity that a camera with higher pixels provides since I am not going to be doing enlargements over 8 x 10. |

Some of the pictures I have taken have been used in print - enough to pay for my camera so far. That is not bad for a point and shoot. My biggest problem is that afrer years of owning a digital camera, and never throwing away any images, I have tons and tons of images taking up space! Perhaps you already know what I mean.

At one time I was building quite a folder/folders of photos and then had the computers crash and I lost all of them, twice actually. That was before thumb drives and add on storage hard drives. A friend of mine that has really gotten into photography the last five years or so has now added a 1t backup hard drive for his photos. When I started doing photography for other applications, etc., (film) cameras I had all of the film in strips with contact sheets. I have since gotten rid of those, sometimes I wish I hadn't but I was never using them. I now go through my photos and get rid of those I don't believe are workable which helps a little. I probably am not as good at making folders, tags, etc. to know where I put the photos. I saw at Staples a week or so ago a 4t backup harddrive that I believe was 69 or 79 dollars. I can't believe the amount of memory that is out there now. I have been using a thumb drive for most of my backup/storage. Digital is the way to go, shoot and erase what you don't want immediately. Have a great day!
