We have refurbished 4 units since retirement. Only one left to trace.
A 1965 Caravel (no WBCCI number visible)Sold A 1964 Overlander (11753) A 1963 Globe Trotter (12518) Sold A 1967 Trade Wind (1401) You have been most helpful tracing. The GT 12518 also had a rectangular decal above the WBCCI numbers (photo attached). Would this be a caravan sticker? Thank you. |

#12518 was first assigned in 1965, so apparently the '63 Globetrotter was kicking around for at least two years before the number was applied. We may never know if that number was applied to this trailer when it was first assigned in 1965, or if someone had another trailer with 12518 on it and later bought this one and transferred the number to it, perhaps at some time after 1965.
What I can say is that #12518 was listed in my directories as follows: 1966 - John & Theresa Knapp, Buffalo, NY, no caravans 1975 - Robert & Patricia Anderson, Albia, Iowa, Illiamo Unit 045, no caravans 1981 - Robert & Patricia Anderson, Lancaster, MO, no caravans 1988-1994 - Anderson, same 1995 - Not Listed (possible late renewal?) 2001 - Robert & Patricia Anderson, Lancaster, MO, Iowa Unit 046, no caravans 2004-2009 - Anderson, same I don;t have a 2010 Directory yet, but appears that 12518 is still in use and the current members have had it since at least 1975 (35+ years)! Given your location, it might make the most sense if the Globetrotter belonged to the Knapps in Buffalo, NY when 12518 was assigned, but we may never know for sure. |
