Hi, My name is Bill English WBCCI #8890. I have been having a great time restoring our trailer for the last three years. My wife and I have enjoyed the unit rallies and Michigan State Rally we attended last year. 2010 will be our second year as WBCCI/VAC members.
I am sorry for the new guy questions, but are there officers for the Regions in the VAC? I thought I had seen an Officer listed in one of the very nice newsletters that we have received. I am assuming these Officers are appointed. Are there any responsiblitys required of these Officers. Shouldn't an appointed Officer have at least one activity and rally during there term? |

Hi Bill,
Each Region has a VAC representative (most of the time), as long as someone volunteers for the position. Effective at the Madison International Rally, the new Region 4 VAC Rep is Ken Faber. Ken has been talking with the Region 4 President (and me) about having a vintage section and perhaps a few vintage activities (e.g. polishing demo, etc.) at this years Region 4 Rally in Wauseon, OH in May. See the separate thread in this section on that topic. Lorrie and I are trying to decide if we will participate in the Region 4 Rally this year. If we decide to, I'll help Ken set up some activities. I am not as gung ho as I would be if my '55 Safari was going to be ready for the trip. It currently sits with the interior removed, half the floor out, part way thru a body on floor replacement. No way it will be ready to camp in by May. This vintage section at the Region 4 Rally may be as much as we are going to get this year in Region 4, unless someone steps up to organized something else. Last year, the previous Region 4 VAC rep didn't even return calls from the Region 4 President about doing something at last years Region 4 Rally, so there were a few vintage Airstreams on display that the Region 4 President was able to drum up himself (including a rare 1959 World Traveler!), but nothing else. So this year is already shaping up as an improvement over last. I think I may be ready to work with others to organize a more substantial Region 4 VAC Rally next year (2011), when I have my Safari done and ready to show off. I would help such an activity, but not lead it. Right now restoring the Safari is getting all of my free time and I know it'll take all summer to get it done. That plus researching and writing articles for the Vintage Advantage Newsletter (and Blue Beret) as VAC Historian is all I can commit to this year. If you want to organize something, speak up and I'm sure you'll find helpers within the Region. See you around. P.S. Ken Faber is not active on any on-line forums, but I can get you his contact info if you want to call or email him. |
