In case you were not at the VAC Meetings at the International Rally in Madison, you may not have heard that Fred Coldwell stepped down from the VAC Historian position he had held for 10 years. I volunteered for the position and was installed as the new VAC Historian in Madison.
I have been a VAC member since 2004, when Lorrie and I joined with her parents original 1966 Overlander. Since then we have gone through a series of Airstreams and currently have a 1955 22' Safari, a 1963 28' Ambassador, and a 1994 28' Excella. My name may be familiar to some of you as I have written a few articles for the Vintage Advantage over the last couple of years. Two articles have been about surviving trailers from the 1963-64 Around the World Caravan. My other ongoing contribution has been the Vintage Reading Corner articles. I am currently researching the 1959-60 Cape Town to Cairo Caravan for it's 50th anniversary so that I can write about it in the near future. For more about me and what I hope to accomplish as the VAC Historian, keep your eyes peeled for the next Issue of the Vintage Advantage. There is more about me there. In the meantime, if you have questions related to WBCCI history or the history of your trailer, post them in these forums and I'll do my best to answer them. You can also email questions to me at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . See you down the road, Joe Peplinski |
